- Indications and Usage Indicated for the cleansing of the colon prior to colonoscopy, barium enema, or other diagnostic or surgical procedures.
- Dosage and Administration Standard Dosage: For adults, the total dose usually consists of two doses (one packet each), with the interval between two doses being several hours (approximately 4h-6h) according to the specific requirement of the examination. Dosage Modification: In patients with Renal Insufficiency (GFR > 60 mL/min), the dosage should be reduced to one-third of the normal dose. Administration: Each dose should be diluted with 800 mL or more of cool water and taken as soon as possible. To obtain a good intestinal preparation effect, more water should be drunk to the extent that can be tolerated. Missed Dose: The second dose should be skipped as soon as possible, and no double doses should be taken.
- Mechanism of Action Sodium phosphates oral preparations increase the osmotic pressure in the intestine by osmotic mechanism, guide water into the intestine to dilute the contents of the intestine, stimulate peristalsis, and thus produce diarrhea( purgative) and intestinal cleaning effects.
- Safety and Warnings Acute Phosphate Nephropathy: Acute phosphate nephropathy may cause transient or permanent renal impairment during the intestinal washing process before endoscopy. Sudden Cardiac Death: Acute phosphate nephropathy, complicated with electrolyte imbalance and increased cardiac load, can lead to sudden cardiac death. Hypothermia: Orthostatic hypotension may occur during the washing process due to dehydration. Electrolyte Imbalance: Concomitant use of drugs that can cause electrolyte imbalance may affect patient condition. Patients should monitor electrolytes, especially potassium, phosphate, sodium, and calcium, before and after administration.
- Adverse Reactions Most Common Adverse Reactions: Dyspepsia, abdominal discomfort, nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramps. Clinical Research: See Special Warnings section for detailed clinical research data.
- Drug Interactions ACEI and ARBs: Concurrent use may increase the risk of renal impairment. Diuretics: Concomitant use may increase the risk of electrolyte imbalance, renal impairment. NSAIDs: Concomitant use may increase the risk of renal impairment and increased blood pressure may occur. P-GP Substrates: Pill formulation is a P-GP substrate, which may increase the plasma exposure and toxicity of P-GP substrates such as digoxin, tacrolimus and many other drugs.
