1. Indications and Usage
Constipation: Indicated for the treatment of habitual and senile constipation.
Metabolic Disorders: Used for the prevention and management of hyperlipidemia and diabetes mellitus.
2. Dosage and Administration
Constipation (Adults): 2 to 4 capsules per dose, 3 times daily. The initial dose can be doubled. Once effective, the maintenance dose is 3 to 6 capsules daily, which can be taken as a single dose.
Constipation (Children): 1 to 2 capsules per dose, 3 times daily.
Hyperlipidemia/Diabetes: 3 to 4 capsules per dose, 3 times daily.
Administration: All doses should be taken on an empty stomach with approximately 150 mL of warm water.
3. Mechanism of Action
Bulking Agent: As a natural fiber-type polysaccharide, it is not absorbed in the intestine and has strong water-binding properties. Upon absorbing water, it expands over 50 times in volume, increasing stool bulk and moisture to promote peristalsis without causing diarrhea.
Metabolic Regulation: When swollen, it forms a viscous gel that covers the intestinal mucosa, binding to sugar and cholesterol to reduce their absorption. This helps stabilize postprandial blood glucose levels and lowers blood lipids.
4. Safety and Warnings
Contraindications: Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug or its components.
Important Precautions: Adequate water intake is essential to ensure efficacy and prevent esophageal or intestinal obstruction.
Comorbidities: This medication cannot replace specific antidiabetic or lipid-lowering drugs in patients with diabetes or hyperlipidemia.
5. Adverse Reactions and Clinical Research
Common Adverse Reactions: Some patients may experience thirst or mild abdominal bloating, which typically resolves spontaneously after defecation.
Management: Increased water intake can alleviate thirst; patients should continue medication unless severe symptoms occur.
6. Drug Interactions
Prokinetic Agents: Concomitant use with gastrointestinal prokinetic drugs during the initial phase of treatment may enhance the laxative effect.
Other Medications: Interaction data with other medications is not fully established; concurrent use should be approached with caution.

Strength: Typically 0.3 g per capsule.
Appearance: Hard capsules containing off-white or pale yellow granular powder with a slight odor.
