1. Indications and Usage
Hemostatic Use: Indicated for the prevention of bleeding or hemostasis during surgical operations, and for the treatment of hemorrhagic diseases in internal medicine and obstetrics/gynecology.
Hematologic Use: Used for the treatment of leukopenia and thrombocytopenia caused by various factors.
2. Dosage and Administration
Standard Dose: The usual dosage for adults is 0.1–0.3 g (1–3 tablets) per dose, taken orally three times daily.
Course of Treatment: A 14-day course is standard, and it may be continued for several consecutive courses as clinically necessary.
Monitoring: If the platelet count approaches or exceeds 100 x 10⁹/L, the dose should be reduced or the medication discontinued, with close monitoring of platelet counts.
3. Mechanism of Action
Hemostasis: Caffeic acid contracts and strengthens capillaries and improves the blood-clotting function of coagulation factors.
Hematopoiesis: It promotes the elevation of white blood cells and platelets, aiding in the recovery of hematopoietic function.
4. Safety and Warnings
Contraindications: Contraindicated in patients with a hypercoagulable state of the blood.
Pregnancy and Lactation: Pregnant women are strictly prohibited. Animal studies indicate anti-implantation and early pregnancy-blocking effects. It is excreted in breast milk, so nursing mothers should use with caution.
Precautions: Use with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal ulcers, as the drug is acidic and may cause discomfort.
5. Adverse Reactions and Clinical Research
Gastrointestinal: Occasional dry mouth, epigastric discomfort, nausea, abdominal pain, and mild diarrhea.
Hepatic: Occasional transient mild elevation of alanine aminotransferase (ALT).
Dermatologic and Neurological: Occasional rash, pruritus, sweating, dizziness, headache, and insomnia.
