According to Merck’s disclosed data, at the first pre-specified interim analysis, the combination arm met the primary endpoint of significantly improved disease-free survival (DFS). Compared with Keytruda plus placebo, the Welireg plus Keytruda arm demonstrated a 28% reduction in the risk of disease recurrence or death. Median DFS was not reached in either arm, with estimated 24-month DFS rates of 81% and 74%, respectively. The trial will continue to evaluate overall survival (OS), a key secondary endpoint.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the trial, 52.1% of patients receiving Welireg plus Keytruda experienced Grade \u22653 TEAEs, compared with 30.2% of patients receiving Keytruda plus placebo. The most common adverse events were anemia, elevated ALT, and hypoxia. The incidence of Grade 5 TEAEs and treatment-related adverse events (TRAEs) was similar between the two arms. No new safety signals were observed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Merck stated in the press release that “this approval represents the first approval of Welireg in earlier-stage ccRCC and the first approval of a HIF-2\u03b1 inhibitor combined with PD-1 therapy.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
