\nPharyngitis, tonsillitis (including peritonsillitis and peritonsillar abscess), acute bronchitis, infectious pneumonia, and secondary infections in chronic respiratory diseases.
\nUrinary Tract Infections:
\nCystitis, pyelonephritis, urethritis, cervicitis.
\nOtorhinolaryngologic & Dental Infections:
\nOtitis media, sinusitis, periodontitis, pericoronitis, and osteomyelitis of the jaw.
\nSpecific Pathogens:
\nIndicated for infections caused by Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Enterococcus faecalis, Haemophilus influenzae, Legionella pneumophila, Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and Chlamydia pneumoniae .
\n2. Dosage and Administration
\nRoute of Administration:
\nFor Oral Use ONLY.
\nRecommended Dosage:
\nStandard Adult Dose: One tablet (50 mg) twice daily, or two tablets (100 mg) once daily.
\nHigh Dose: In cases where clinical efficacy is insufficient, the dose may be increased to two tablets (100 mg) twice daily.
\nPediatric Use: Contraindicated in patients under 18 years of age .
\nAdministration Instructions:
\nThe tablet should be swallowed whole with water. It can be taken with or without food.

\nDual Enzyme Inhibition:
\nSitafloxacin targets two essential bacterial enzymes: DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV.
\nBactericidal Activity:
\nBy inhibiting these enzymes, it prevents bacterial DNA replication and repair, exerting a potent bactericidal effect.
\nResistance Profile:
\nIt exhibits strong inhibitory activity against bacterial enzymes derived from quinolone-resistant strains (e.g., gyrA and parC mutants), showing superior efficacy compared to other quinolones against resistant pathogens .
\n4. Safety and Warnings
\nHypersensitivity:
\nDiscontinue immediately if signs of shock or anaphylaxis (difficulty breathing, skin rash) occur.
\nQT Interval Prolongation:
\nMay prolong the QT interval. Use with caution in patients with cardiac conditions, electrolyte imbalances (hypokalemia), or those taking other QT-prolonging drugs .
\nTendon Disorders:
\nSimilar to other quinolones, it may cause tendonitis or tendon rupture. Risk is higher in elderly patients and those taking corticosteroids.
\nGlucose Metabolism:
\nHypoglycemia (sometimes leading to coma) has been reported, particularly in diabetic patients, the elderly, or those with renal impairment. Monitor blood glucose levels .
\nPregnancy and Lactation:

\n5. Adverse Reactions
\nGastrointestinal Disorders:
\nDiarrhea, loose stools, nausea, abdominal pain, and vomiting.
\nHepatic Disorders:
\nElevated liver enzymes (ALT\/GPT, AST\/GOT) and LDH.
\nNervous System Disorders:
\nHeadache, dizziness, insomnia, and rarely, confusion or hallucinations .
\nDermatological Disorders:
\nRash, pruritus, and photosensitivity reactions.
\n6. Drug Interactions
\nAntacids and Metal Ions:
\nCo-administration with aluminum\/magnesium antacids, calcium supplements, or iron preparations may form chelates and reduce absorption. Administer Sitafloxacin at least 2 hours before or after these agents .
\nNSAIDs:
\nConcomitant use with phenylacetic or propionic acid NSAIDs (e.g., Ketoprofen) may inhibit GABA-A receptor binding and increase the risk of convulsions .
\nCorticosteroids:
\nConcomitant use may increase the risk of tendon injury .
