1. Indications and Usage
Chronic Arterial Occlusive Disease: Indicated for the improvement of ischemic sequelae, including intermittent claudication, ulcerative lesions, and cold sensitivity associated with chronic arterial occlusive disease.
2. Dosage and Administration
Standard Dose: The usual dosage for adults is 100 mg three times daily.
Administration: Tablets should be taken orally after meals with water.
Titration: The dosage may be adjusted by the prescribing physician based on the patient’s symptoms and tolerability, but treatment should generally not exceed 3 months.
3. Mechanism of Action
5-HT2A Receptor Antagonism: Sarpogrelate selectively inhibits serotonin 2A (5-HT2A) receptors on platelets and vascular smooth muscle cells.
Antiplatelet and Vasodilatory Effects: By blocking serotonin-mediated pathways, it inhibits platelet aggregation and vascular smooth muscle contraction, thereby improving blood flow and microcirculation.
