Description
Clascoterone 5% Topical Solution is an androgen receptor inhibitor for scalp use, containing 50mg clascoterone per mL, with minimal systemic absorption, designed to directly block dihydrotestosterone (DHT) at hair follicle receptors.
Indications
For the treatment of androgenetic alopecia (AGA) in adult male patients, to promote hair regrowth and slow progressive hair loss.
Dosage and Administration
Apply 1.5 mL of the 5% solution twice daily to the balding areas of the scalp (vertex and temples). Do not apply to other body areas, avoid contact with eyes, mouth and mucous membranes.
Dosage
The recommended daily total dose is 3mL, divided into two separate morning and evening applications, no dose escalation is required.
Administration
For topical scalp use only. Gently dab the solution onto the target balding areas, do not rinse off after application.
Precautions
Local scalp irritation including pruritus, mild burning, redness or peeling may occur. Discontinue use if severe irritation appears. Not intended for use in women and patients under 18 years of age.
Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to clascoterone or any excipients of the formulation.
Adverse Reactions
Treatment-emergent adverse events are comparable to placebo, most events are mild, including transient local scalp dryness, very low incidence of systemic adverse effects.
Drug Interactions
No clinically significant drug-drug interactions have been identified in clinical trials, as systemic absorption of clascoterone is extremely low.
Use in Specific Populations
Not recommended for pediatric patients, pregnant or lactating women. No dose adjustment is required for patients with mild to moderate hepatic or renal impairment.
