Fuxing Osalmide Capsules

1. Indications and Usage
Biliary Tract Disorders: Treatment of cholecystitis, cholangitis, cholelithiasis, and post-cholecystectomy syndrome.
2. Dosage and Administration
Adults: The usual dosage is 0.25 g to 0.5 g (1 to 2 capsules) per dose, taken 3 times daily, before meals.
Titration: The dosage may be adjusted based on age and clinical symptoms.
3. Mechanism of Action
Choleric Effect: The mechanism is similar to dehydrocholic acid; it increases hepatic blood flow, improves liver function, and significantly increases the water content in bile.
Sphincter Relaxation: It has a strong choleric effect and relaxes the Oddi sphincter.
Lipid Regulation: It also possesses a cholesterol-lowering effect in the blood.
4. Safety and Warnings
Contraindications: Contraindicated in patients with complete biliary obstruction, severe hepatic or renal impairment, and glaucoma.
Precautions: Long-term use may increase peripheral platelet counts. If recurrent biliary colic occurs during treatment, the drug should be discontinued.
Limitations: This drug cannot dissolve pigment stones, mixed stones, or X-ray opaque stones.
