1. Indications and Usage
Chronic Gastritis: Treatment of chronic gastritis.
Symptomatic Relief: Relief of gastric pain, heartburn, and acid reflux caused by excessive gastric acid.
Helicobacter pylori Eradication: Used in combination therapy for the eradication of Helicobacter pylori in patients with active duodenal ulcers.
2. Dosage and Administration
Adults: Oral administration. The recommended dosage is 2 tablets per dose, 3 times daily.
Timing: Should be taken 30 minutes before meals and at bedtime.
Duration: Continuous use should not exceed 8 weeks.
3. Mechanism of Action
Gastric Mucosal Protection: Bismuth potassium citrate forms a protective film on the gastric mucosa, shielding it from acid and pepsin damage. It also inhibits Helicobacter pylori.
Acid Suppression: Ranitidine is a histamine H2-receptor antagonist that competitively and reversibly blocks H2 receptors on gastric parietal cells, significantly reducing basal and stimulated gastric acid secretion.
4. Safety and Warnings
Contraindications: Contraindicated in patients with severe renal insufficiency and pregnant women.
Hypersensitivity: Do not use if hypersensitive to ranitidine or any component of the drug.
Precautions: Do not take other bismuth preparations during treatment. Avoid long-term or excessive use.
Special Populations: Use with caution in patients with hepatic dysfunction.
5. Adverse Reactions and Clinical Research
Common Adverse Reactions: Stool may appear dull black or gray, but this is a normal reaction. Other occasional side effects include constipation, diarrhea, nausea, and headache.
Clinical Research: Clinical studies support its efficacy in promoting gastric mucosal healing, relieving symptoms, and eradicating Helicobacter pylori in combination therapy.
6. Drug Interactions
Antacids: Cannot be taken concurrently with strong antacids, as this may reduce the efficacy of the bismuth component.
pH-Dependent Drugs: Ranitidine may decrease the absorption of drugs requiring an acidic environment (e.g., ketoconazole, itraconazole).
General Precaution: Consult a physician or pharmacist if used concurrently with other medications.
7. Pharmaceutical Information
Active Ingredients: Bismuth Potassium Citrate and Ranitidine Hydrochloride.
Appearance: The tablets are typically yellow or off-white.
