- Mechanism of Action DNA Damage: Morinidazole enters bacterial and protozoal cells and undergoes reduction of its nitro group by ferredoxin. Cytotoxic Effect: The resulting cytotoxic nitro radical intermediates disrupt the DNA of microbial cells, inhibiting nucleic acid synthesis and leading to cell death.
- Safety and Warnings Neurotoxicity: Peripheral neuropathy, seizures, encephalopathy, and aseptic meningitis may occur. The drug should be discontinued if abnormal neurological symptoms or signs appear. Disulfiram-like Reaction: The drug may interfere with alcohol metabolism. Patients should be warned against consuming alcohol during and shortly after treatment to avoid severe reactions. Hypersensitivity: Serious allergic reactions to nitroimidazole derivatives are possible.

Cimetidine: May inhibit the metabolism of morinidazole, prolonging its serum half-life. Alcohol and Disulfiram: Concomitant use is contraindicated due to the risk of disulfiram-like reactions.
