1. Indications and Usage
Treatment: Treatment of influenza in patients 1 year and older.
Prophylaxis: Prophylaxis of influenza in patients 13 years and older.
2. Dosage and Administration
Treatment: The recommended oral dosage for adults and adolescents (13 years and older) is 75 mg twice daily for 5 days.
Prophylaxis: The recommended oral dosage for adults and adolescents (13 years and older) is 75 mg once daily for at least 6 weeks.
Renal Impairment: Dosage adjustment is required for patients with creatinine clearance less than 30 mL/min.
Administration: Oseltamivir phosphate can be taken with or without food.
3. Mechanism of Action
Neuraminidase Inhibition: Oseltamivir phosphate is an orally active prodrug that is converted in vivo to oseltamivir carboxylate.
Viral Inhibition: Oseltamivir carboxylate is a selective inhibitor of influenza virus neuraminidase, inhibiting the release of virions from infected cells and subsequent spread of infection.

Neuropsychiatric Events: Abnormal behavior has been reported, particularly in pediatric patients.
