1. Indications and Usage
Acid-Related Disorders: Indicated for the relief of胃痛 (gastric pain), heartburn (acid reflux), and sour belching caused by excessive gastric acid.
Chronic Gastritis: Used as an adjunctive therapy for the management of chronic gastritis and related dyspeptic symptoms.
2. Dosage and Administration
Standard Dose: The usual dosage for adults is 3–6 capsules per dose, taken 3 times daily.
Administration: Taken orally after meals with water.
Duration: Continuous use should generally not exceed 7 days. If symptoms persist, consult a physician.
3. Mechanism of Action
Mucosal Protection: Bismuth Aluminate forms a protective coating over the gastric and duodenal mucosa, shielding it from acid and pepsin damage.
Antacid Effect: Sodium Bicarbonate and Magnesium Carbonate neutralize excess gastric acid, raising the pH and reducing pepsin activity.
Digestive Regulation: The combination (analogous to the effects of Rhubarb and digestive herbs) helps regulate gastric motility, relieve gas, and alleviate constipation.
4. Safety and Warnings
Renal Impairment: Contraindicated in patients with severe renal failure due to the risk of aluminum and bismuth accumulation.
Dietary Restrictions: Alcohol consumption and fried/greasy foods should be avoided during treatment.
Discoloration: Stool may turn black during treatment, which is a normal effect of bismuth and should not be confused with gastrointestinal bleeding.
Special Populations: Use in pregnancy, lactation, and children should be under strict medical supervision.
5. Adverse Reactions and Clinical Research
Common Adverse Reactions: Occasional constipation, loose stools, dry mouth, insomnia, nausea, or vomiting.
Resolution: These symptoms are usually mild and typically resolve spontaneously upon discontinuation of the drug.
6. Drug Interactions
Tetracyclines: Concurrent use may interfere with the absorption of tetracycline antibiotics.
Dairy Products: Should not be taken concurrently with milk.
Other Medications: May interact with other drugs; consult a physician if taking other medications simultaneously.
