1. Indications and Usage
Inositol Nicotinate Tablets are indicated as an adjunctive therapy for:
Hyperlipidemia and atherosclerosis.
Peripheral vascular disorders, including arteriosclerosis obliterans, acrocyanosis, frostbite, and vascular migraine.
2. Dosage and Administration
Standard Dose: The usual adult dosage is 0.2–0.6 g (1–3 tablets) taken orally three times daily.
Duration: Treatment is typically continued for 1–3 months, depending on clinical response.
Administration: Should be taken with meals to minimize gastrointestinal discomfort.
3. Mechanism of Action
Vasodilation: Inositol nicotinate is a prodrug that is gradually hydrolyzed in the body to release nicotinic acid (niacin) and inositol. This results in a mild and sustained peripheral vasodilatory effect, improving blood flow without causing the intense flushing associated with immediate-release niacin.
