Flomox® is the commercial brand name of Cefcapene Pivoxil Hydrochloride Granules, an oral third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis and exerts bactericidal activity against susceptible gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
Main Indications
For the treatment of infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including otitis media, sinusitis, pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis and pneumonia in pediatric and adult patients.
Clinical Research
Clinical trials demonstrated that cefcapene pivoxil achieves good oral absorption. In pediatric otitis media and upper respiratory tract infections, it showed high clinical cure rates comparable to other oral third-generation cephalosporins. The granular formulation is designed for children who cannot swallow tablets, with acceptable gastrointestinal tolerability.

Diarrhoea, nausea, abdominal discomfort;
Other common reactions: rash. Rare serious adverse events include severe hypersensitivity reactions, pseudomembranous colitis and interstitial nephritis.
